November Nine Catch Haul!!! |
16-11-2008 |
With the end of the season approaching one or two anglers are braving the elements and hitting the bank for the last few sessions. One angler in particular, Andy Gadsby, has had a blinding 24 hour session this weekend with 9 carp on the bank consisting of 8 commons and 1 mirror around the mid double mark a very successful catch for this time of year. Jason also managed to winkle a mid double out. Last weekend I had a rewarding session with 4 carp the best being a 22lb 4oz mirror. Also the pike anglers are out in force with several pike being banked. |

Lake Update 30th May 2008 - New Lake Record Common |
30-05-2008 |
I'm sorry its been a while since I last updated the site, its been a fabulous month on Woodside, to be honest I can't remember as many twenties been caught ever before, I'll no doubt miss one or two people out but here goes, Mick Somerset's had mirrors and commons to 20lb plus, plus a 2lb perch on hair rigged maggot, Al the scaffolder had a right result last weekend taking mirrors of 24lb, 23.02lb and 23lb along with a stack of doubles, probably the best ever catch of 20's in one hit off the lake, shed loads of upper doubles been out. Stuart Smedley's had at least 2 twenties off the top and is hoping that the sun will come out some time soon to warm things up and allow him to catch some more. Rita and Peter have continued with their systematic destruction of the place and are stacking the fish up like never before! Congratulations to Pete on the capture of a new lake record common at 26lb 2oz yesterday, we reckon its only a matter of time before Rita tops that! The one consistent factor is that all the members who are taking big hits of fish are using top quality bait, in Peter and Rita's case Butty has taken to scrounging it wherever possible, so the bagfull of doubles in an evening he had earlier this week don't count! All in all the lakes fishing superb and roll on the rest of the summer. Regards, Mark |

Woodside Update |
08-05-2008 |
Well its as predicted, the suns come out and the carp have switched on. The bank holiday weekend saw our busiest ever night on the friday with 12 anglers on the bank, midweek however you can virtually pick your swim. Absolutely loads of fish caught this past weekend, some people catching more than others, but everyone catching and thats the main thing! Peter and Rita have ventured out and rumour has it that Butty will sell his soul to get on their bait, 13 takes this tuesday between them much to Dave's bewilderment! Some nice fish out the past week, Gareth managed his first 20 from the lake with a mirror just topping the magical mark, Alan had a lovely 20lb plus common, in fact theres been several commons at just over the 20lb mark, hopefully fish coming through, loads and loads of mid doubles and I apologise for not naming everyone thats catching plenty of fish. The bream have gone potty as well, biggest this week is 10lb 4oz, John Austerfield also weighing in a superb perch of 2lb 2oz. I walked around the lake last night and the carp are getting frisky and look about to spawn, make sure that your carp care is first class especially this next couple of weeks, don't mess about with them on the bank, get em straight back in and make sure theyr'e ok to paddle off without a helping hand. Keep catching and keep smiling! Mark |
